Available Enhancements
The default setup of the WordPress plugin provides the core features and strengths of HawkSearch. The HawkSearch engineering team expects to add more advanced features to the plugin in the future. Meanwhile, these features can be added to your search experience, either by your developer or with the support of the HawkSearch Services team. Please contact your HawkSearch CSD for more information.
Rapid UI, which the plugin uses, already includes the components for these features. They are switched on for your engine in HawkSearch, then added to the site with a small change, without editing the plugin. See the Developer Reference for the code.
Smart Search
The Smart Search feature set lets visitors ask questions instead of typing keywords, upload an image or take a picture with their phone to find matching products, and even describe the product itself. These features are described in more detail here: https://www.hawksearch.com/product/smart-search
Rapid UI offers concept search (search by meaning, in whole sentences), visual and image search, and a single unified search box that combines them with keyword search. To use the unified search box everywhere the plugin places a search box, add the hawksearch_search_field_html filter shown in Using Smart Search.
Developer documentation:
Smart Response
There are additional opportunities to provide value to visitors beyond the search results. Smart Response provides a deeper analysis of the results, highlights the most relevant product or can answer a question the visitor may have. Conversational search lets visitors chat with your catalog. These options are described in more detail here: https://www.hawksearch.com/product/smart-response
To show Smart Response, add a Custom HTML block containing <hawksearch-smart-response></hawksearch-smart-response> above the [hawksearch_results] shortcode on the search results page.
Developer documentation:
Landing Pages
HawkSearch landing pages add facet control, merchandising and analytics to category-style pages. They can be added to WordPress pages with the Rapid UI <hawksearch-landing-page> component. See Rapid UI Basics.
Visitor Targets and Personas
Visitor targets personalise results for groups of visitors, such as returning customers or visitors from a campaign. They are supported through small front end template changes; see the Event Tracking API for passing visitor target values.
