Smart Answer

In this Smart Response type, the original search is used to answer the question. This type of Smart Response it typically done with PDF files that are indexed in HawkSearch. The original search will return the PDF file with the answer and then the API call to Smart Response will include a prompt that instructions the GenAI to consider the original query

Consider using a separate engine for Smart Answer related to PDF files if you do not currently index PDF files with HawkSearch. This will provide some flexibility, but is not required

If you are using Smart Answer for PDF files, then you will need to parse out the content of the PDF files before indexing them to HawkSearch.

Smart Summary

Sometimes it can be helpful to pick a product in the search results and provide some brief description or highlights related to the product description. Once again the tone, length, technical nature of the response will be driven by the prompt.

Smart Facets

Rather than have the Smart Response back end analyze the search results, the returned facets are analyzed and then suggested in the Smart Response to help guide the search experience.
