Overview
Optimizely (B2B) Configured Commerce comes with a default search implementation using Elasticsearch. The merchandising options for improving search relevancy are minimal. The XConnect solution developed by Xngage for HawkSearch provides a new search option that leverages the Search Provider configuration settings in Opti but takes advantage of the advanced configuration and merchandising settings offered by HawkSearch. The integration creates & controls various Field & Facet values as configured in Optimizely. Most other functionality within HawkSearch is stand-alone and will function normally.
The XConnect Hawksearch integration has 2 primary components included:
Indexing
Once installed and configured, the XConnect integration will index all product related components to HawkSearch. Fields and Facets will be created automatically. Some Field and Facet settings may be adjusted in Hawksearch after the first index, but some values may be overwritten during the next Index from Opti. See "Fields & Facets" to understand which specific values are controlled by the integration.
NOTE: At this time, customizations to the indexing pipeline are not supported and will be released in a future version of XConnect.
Front-End
The front-end currently uses only the Optimizely's Out of the Box functionality. Other front-end features, such as keyword banners and campaigns will be in a future version of XConnect.

Roles and Responsibilities

| HawkSearch | HawkSearch helps with installation and configuration of the XConnect search provider, the HawkSearch configuration settings and provides all support for customers. Any feature requests or issues with the connector should be addressed to HawkSearch |
| Customer | Depending on interest, bandwidth, or capabilities, customers can configure the search provider options and/or install the connector itself. All customers however, have the ability to work with HawkSearch to set merchandising rules and adjust settings. |
| Systems Integrator | Many HawkSearch/Optimizely customers leverage the technical services of Systems Integrators. These integrators will often install the connector as described in this documentation. As long as there are no customizations to the default search provider, there should be no additional development work required by the Systems Integrator. |
| Xngage | Xngage developed the connector and manages the Roadmap and is not required for installation of the connector or any configuration work. |
